Jaden Ivey Injury Update: What Happened After The Detroit Pistons Guard’s Collision On Court

The incident happened in the fourth quarter of a 105-96 win for Detroit. Ivey and Orlando’s Cole Anthony were going for the ball when they collided and fell on the court. The 22-year-old instantly grabbed his leg and medical staff rushed in.

Players from both teams formed a circle around Ivey and members of the athletic training staff held up towels in order to give him privacy. Ivey was then carried out on a stretch with a towel covering the injury.

“It is tough for all of us,” Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said after the game. “There’s no better person or teammate than J.I. and no one cares more about this than he does. I give the guys credit for getting it done.”

He added, “They care about him and they didn’t want to let him down.”

Is Jaden Ivey going to miss most of the season?

On Thursday, sources confirmed that Ivey has a broken fibula in his left leg, forcing him to miss most of the season. However, the Pistons have not ruled out a return.

“It’s tough on the whole group, to see him hurting like that is tough on us. He’s built for it, he’s going to shake back knowing him,” Bickerstaff also said, according to The Detroit Free Press. “He’s going to work his tail off and be better than ever when he gets back. It’s tough for sure.”

Ivey, who is currently in his third year playing for the Pistons, has helped the team have a resurgence this season. Per ESPN, he has averaged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
