NBA star LaMelo Ball has apologized for using inappropriate language in his post-game interview on Saturday. Ball got himself in trouble when he was being interviewed on the FanDuel Sports Network after his Charlotte Hornets beat the Milwaukee Bucks 115-114.
“That last play when he took the shot, we loaded up. No homo,” Ball said during the interview. “That’s what we wanted, put a hand up and then live with the result.”

According to the Associated Press, the NBA issued Ball with a $100,000 fine, saying his comment was “offensive and derogatory.”
“Before we get started, I just want to address the comment yesterday,” Ball told reporters after the Hornets’ game against Cleveland on Sunday, per the AP. “I really didn’t mean anything (by it) and don’t want to offend anybody. I’ve got love for everybody, and I don’t discriminate.”
Hornets coach Charles Lee also said he spoke to Ball about his comments.
“From what I’ve seen since I’ve been around him, he loves everyone,” Lee said, per the AP. “He’s a joy to have around the facility and it’s not typically how he operates. He and I talked about the seriousness of the situation and how he needs to conduct himself going forward.”
Lee, who is a first-year head coach, added that Hall is “very apologetic” and he will learn from the incident.
“He definitely said going forward, ‘I’m going to be better,’ and I want to see that happen,” Lee said. “So for somebody to use those words and say that out of his mouth, we will make sure to hold him accountable to that.”
Lee made it clear that the NBA is committed to upholding high standards.
“As an organization, that is obviously not something we condone,” he said. “Our standards and what is required of our players in the environment we create is really important to us.”
