Here’s the synopsis:
From producers DeVon Franklin and Tyler Perry, Ruth & Boaz is a modern-day reimagining of the timeless love story, rooted in faith, healing, and second chances. Serayah stars as Ruth Moably, a rising Atlanta hip-hop artist who leaves behind fame after a personal tragedy. Seeking a fresh start in rural Tennessee, she cares for her late boyfriend’s mother (Rashad) and unexpectedly finds new purpose and love with Boaz (Lepley), a grounded and generous vineyard owner. Directed by Alanna Brown and written by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan, the film features an original song by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, performed by Serayah.
“I’m thrilled to kick off my partnership with DeVon Franklin with Ruth & Boaz,” said Perry, per Netflix’s Tudum. “The trailer is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited for the world to get this first look at such a powerful love story. I can’t wait for audiences everywhere to experience the film when it arrives. I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects,” Perry says. “I think in this polarizing world, and at a time when the world seems to be growing colder every day, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good. And there’s no better place than Netflix.”
Franklin added, “Tyler and I have been great friends for over 15 years, so when he called me to team up on movies that can uplift the human spirit, I jumped at the chance and we couldn’t have a better partner than Netflix to help us inspire the world. Ruth & Boaz has been a true labor of love, and I’m grateful to finally share this first look with the world. This classic story has held such deep meaning for me and so many others for generations. I’m beyond excited for audiences to see the trailer and to experience this film on Netflix when it’s released!”
The film drops Sept. 26 on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
