Newsweek reported that shoppers may have purchased several recalled food products before Christmas dinner. These notices are issued to warn about harmful ingredients found in the items.
The recalled food items could have been used in appetizers, the main course, beverages or desserts.
Here is a list of the food items that have since been recalled.
Lay’s Potato Chips — The Food and Drug Administration announced on Dec. 16 that Frito-Lay recalled Lay’s Potato Chips bags containing undeclared milk. So far, the food items have been sold in Oregon and Washington.
Oysters — The FDA is issuing an alert advising restaurants and food retailers not to serve or sell, and consumers not to eat, oysters sold as Fanny Bay, Buckley Bay and Royal Miyagi, harvested between Dec. 1-9 from British Columbia, Canada.
Aroma Vita Hot Cocoa Mix — The FDA announced on Oct. 2 the recall of 692 cases of Aroma Vita Hot Cocoa Mix, distributed by Atlanta-based company DYMA Brands Inc., according to The Healthy, a Reader’s Digest brand. The item has been recalled in 30 states.
Costco Organic Eggs — The FDA reported that Handsome Brook Farms recalled Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand organic pasture-raised 24-count eggs due to a Salmonella outbreak. The food items impacted several states, including Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, beginning on Nov. 22.
The FDA shared how the recalled items could affect the health of some compromising communities.
“It is important that consumers be aware of recalls because recalled foods may cause injury or illness, especially for people who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems because of chronic illness or medical treatment,” according to the FDA’s website, Newsweek rep
