Family Dollar has announced that it is teaming up with Uber Eats to provide delivery service from about 5,000 locations across the country. With the new partnership, the company said customers will be able to stay home and order various products from their nearby Family Dollar location. The two partners are celebrating the news by providing a 40% discount on Uber Eats orders of $30 or more from Family Dollar.

According to Men’s Journal, the offer is available for a limited time with promo code FAMILY40. Customers can open the Uber Eats app and find the “retail” or “convenience” section to search for Family Dollar items.

New details have emerged in the deaths of Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen and Ethan Chapin, four University of Idaho students who were fatally stabbed in 2022.

The latest findings, obtained by Dateline for their recent episode “The Terrible Night on King Road,” reveal the events leading up to the day when 27-year-old Bryan Kohberger allegedly committed the killings.

What happened in the days leading up to the murder of four University of Idaho students in 2022?

Kohberger, who was a 27-year-old doctoral student in criminology at Washington State University in 2022, was living in Pennsylvania with his family before moving to Pullman, Washington, for school in the summer before the murders. However, Kohberger’s phone data showed that he frequently visited Moscow, Idaho, in the summer of 2022 after being invited to a pool party on July 9. During that summer, the data also showed that Kohberger often spent time near the address of the students who were murdered in Moscow.

Additionally, investigators obtained records from September 2022 showing that Kohberger’s internet history included searches for “Sociopathic Traits in College Student.” He also searched keywords such as “drugged” and “sleeping,” the records showed.

On Oct. 14, 2022, police pulled over Kohberger for a traffic violation. Five days after the stop, Kohberger’s internet history showed that he searched “Can Psychopaths behave prosocially?” In November 2022, the criminology student’s activity showed that he frequently continued to visit the area of the murdered students.

What happened on the day when four University of Idaho students were murdered?

On the night of Nov. 12, 2022, students from the University of Idaho were celebrating Senior Day after the school’s football team played a game earlier that day. One of the students, Kaylee Goncalves, posted an Instagram photo from the party around 9 p.m. that night and said, “One lucky girl to be surrounded by these ppl everyday.”

Goncalves was still with Mogen around 2 a.m. after the party ended. Meanwhile, Kernodle stayed with her boyfriend, Chapin, and two of their friends, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke.

At 3:30 a.m., security cameras showed a white Elantra approaching the King Road home and circling the area multiple times over the next 30 minutes. The white car drove by again shortly after 4 a.m. Then, at 4:20 a.m., the car came back into view and sped off. Investigators believe that’s when the four students were murdered.

What did Kohberger’s phone data show on the night when the Idaho students were murdered?

Phone data showed that Kohberger’s device had been turned off around 3 a.m. on Nov. 13, but it connected to a cell tower in Moscow at 4:48 a.m. The phone user also appeared to make a call to an account registered to Kohberger’s father later that morning. Prosecutors said the phone briefly returned to Moscow around 9 a.m., before it was seen at Kohberger’s apartment in Pullman. That’s when Kohberger took a selfie, showing a thumbs-up sign in a bathroom mirror, prosecutors said.

Kohberger, who faces four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary, awaits his trial in August.

Millions of Apple users can now submit their claims to get a settlement payment after the company was sued for a privacy violation.

After Apple agreed to the terms in December, the settlement administrator has now opened the claims portal that will enable millions to get paid, SFGATE reported.

Why did Apple get sued for privacy violations?

The allegations against Apple started in 2019 when a whistleblower reported that the iPhone is activating Siri without users’ knowledge and allowing people’s private conversations to be recorded. Shortly after the whistleblower reported the issue to The Guardian, a California resident named Fumiko Lopez filed a lawsuit against Apple and requested his case be granted class-action status.

“Apple intentionally, willfully, and knowingly violated consumers’ privacy rights, including within the sanctity of consumers’ own homes where they have the greatest expectation of privacy,” the complaint stated.

Apple continued to defend itself after facing the lawsuit.

“Apple has never used Siri data to build marketing profiles, never made it available for advertising, and never sold it to anyone for any purpose,” the company stated, per SFGATE.

Still, the company has agreed to a $95 million settlement.

How can Apple users get compensation from the settlement?

People who are eligible for the payment are getting notice from Apple. Apple users are directed to a portal where they will submit their contact information, along with the device’s serial numbers or proof of purchase. The plaintiffs will be asked to swear “under penalty of perjury” that Siri was activated unintentionally on their device at least once, during a conversation that was supposed “to be confidential or private.”

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested on Friday while protesting the opening of New Jersey‘s Delaney Hall ICE detention center. According to Fox 5 New York, several Democratic members of Congress were also protesting at the detention center when chaos broke out as ICE arrested the mayor.

Alina Habba, acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, accused the mayor of trespassing. Habba said on X that Baraka “ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center.”

“He has willingly chosen to disregard the law,” Habba wrote. “That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.”

What happened when ICE arrested Ras Baraka at the detention center?

While the Trump administration opened Delaney Hall on May 1, Baraka has been continually protesting the opening of the detention center for months.

“Delaney Hall cannot lawfully open in Newark at this time,” Baraka’s office said in a statement in February.

Among the concerns, the mayor said there are permit issues with the 1,000-bed facility. He also stated that “an immigrant detention center is not welcomed here” because it is a violation of human rights.

On Friday, Baraka tried to join New Jersey Reps. Robert Menendez, LaMonica McIver and Bonnie Watson Coleman on a scheduled tour of the center. As officials tried to block the mayor from entering the facility, Baraka attempted to go through a side gate. Witnesses told Fox 5 that federal agents threw organizers to the ground, handcuffed Baraka and took him into custody. The mayor is now being held at an ICE office in Newark.

 Rep. LaMonica McIver said she was assaulted by ICE at the facility, along with Rep. Bonnie Watson-Coleman.

Iman Shumpert wants his ex-wife, Teyana Taylor, behind bars for infringing their court order. They were married from October 2016 until their divorce was finalized in July 2024.

According to Essence, the former athlete petitioned the court on May 5 because he claims that Taylor discussed their divorce, which breached the terms of their divorce settlement. He says her actions damaged his image and caused him to miss out on potential jobs.

“The precise amount to be more particularly stated and proven at the trial of this matter,” the motion stated.

Court documents also revealed that Shumpert alleges that Taylor “willfully and contemptuously exposed and broadcast specific provisions of the final judgment decree of divorce and related provisions, recklessly disregarding the financial circumstances, privacy, safety and security of the parties and their minor children.” 

Due to this, Shumpert wants Taylor to spend 20 days in jail. They share custody of their two daughters, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. and Rue Rose Shumpert. Shumpert called out Taylor for pulling their daughters out of school without justification and deliberately blocking his attempt to pick them up on April 17. He also claims she has spoken negatively about him in front of the children. 

“For example, in the presence of the children, [Teyana] has shouted crude and inflammatory racial insults at [Iman]. Such insults and criticism of [Iman] have caused the children to unjustly suffer stress and worry, unfairly placing the children in the self-imposed position of peacemaker between their parents,” his court filing stated.

Taylor recently addressed public speculation, denying rumors that she’s trying to have Shumpert jailed or is seeking financial gain from their legal battle. She emphasized that her priority is simply to move forward with peace and privacy. Her response comes on the heels of a petition filed by Shumpert, following a separate request made weeks earlier by her attorney. That filing accused Shumpert of willfully violating the terms of their divorce decree and requested he serve 20 days in jail and pay associated fines. She also alleged that her ex-husband leaked private details of their case to the press.

“I don’t want no parts of this. Iman is my family. He is the father of my children, and that’s never going to change,” she explained, as Essence reported. “I just want to move on with my life in peace.”

President Donald Trump has fired the head of the Library of Congress in an email sent on Thursday, according to the Associated Press. Carla Hayden was the first woman and the first Black person to occupy the position.

“Carla,” the Thursday email read. “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service.”

What to know about Carla Hayden

Hayden was confirmed to the job by the Senate in 2016. Her 10-year term was set to expire next year. She graduated from Roosevelt University and the University of Chicago, and has led Baltimore’s library system prior to her role. Hayden was known for modernizing the Library and making it more accessible online and to rural communities.

“Libraries are the great equalizer,” she tweeted in April 2025, according to the Associated Press. “And when you have a free public library in particular,” she added, it’s an “opportunity center for people all walks of life, and you are giving them the opportunity to make choices on which information, entertainment and inspiration means the most to them.”

Hayden recently became the target of the American Accountability Foundation, a conservative group. American Accountability Foundation said she had been standing in opposition to Trump’s agenda and had been promoting children’s books featuring “radical” content.
