Barack and Michelle Obama shared a rare family moment on social media. They both took to Instagram to celebrate their daughter Sasha’s 24th birthday on Tuesday.

Malia was 10 years old and Sasha was 7 when they moved to live in the White House in January 2009, according to Today. They left after their father completed two presidential terms in January 2017.
Sasha and Malia Obama have mainly stayed out of the public eye
Sasha obtained a degree in sociology after graduating from the University of Southern California in May 2023, according to the Los Angeles Times. Although she doesn’t make public appearances at events, her parents have shared some insight into her personality.
“Sasha is, as Malia describes it, completely confident about her own take on the world and is not cowed or intimidated — and never has been — by anybody’s titles, anybody’s credentials. If she thinks something’s wrong or right, she will say so,” Barack Obama told InStyle in 2020.
Michelle also shared previously the experience of dropping her daughter off at college.
“Time just goes so fast,’’ she told People in 2019. “But like so many experiences in the last 10 years, we wanted to make it feel as normal as possible, given our family’s circumstances.”
“But by and large, we let her take care of herself,” Michelle added. “As a parent, one of the most important things we can give our children is the freedom to find their own way in the world.”
On her end, Malia has received public attention from her work in the film industry. She decided to drop her last name and goes by Malia Ann in her work as a filmmaker. Malia’s short film The Heart debuted at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. She has also worked on projects such as the TV shows Girls and Swarm.

According to Vibe, Shields, who was nominated alongside top athletes like Dawn Staley, A’ja Wilson, Sha’Carri Richardson, Simone Biles, Flau’jae Johnson, Coco Gauff and JuJu Watkins, shared her thoughts about the loss.
Claressa Shields congratulated Reese, but says ‘I just thought accolades mattered’
“Still don’t know how I didn’t win the Sportswoman of the Year for the @BETAwards but Congrats to Angel Reese and all the other Nominees [shrug emoji]. I just thought accolades mattered,” Shields tweeted.
During her time at Louisiana Stare University, Reese became a star player and was later drafted into the WNBA. Outside of women’s basketball, Reese has grown into a superstar. With several brand deals, a podcast, and mentions by Cardi B and Latto, the 23-year-old has become something of an it girl.

Khalid celebrated Pride Month over the weekend, performing at WorldPride DC’s 2025 Free Street Festival & Closing Concert. He was overcome with emotion, as evidenced by a video posted via Pride 365 Radio’s Instagram page.
While on stage, Khalid stood for a moment and began to get teary-eyed as the crowd cheered him on and chanted his name.

Khalid’s ex outed him last fall
This was a full-circle moment after Khalid’s ex-boyfriend, Hugo D. Almonte outed him last fall. As Blavity reported, Almont had posted a photo of him with Khalid via X, formerly Twitter. That same day, Almonte alleged that Khalid plotted to make him the culprit of a robbery.
In response, Khalid posted a four-minute video to address Almonte’s claims made, which he called false. He also clarified that his sexual orientation was never something he was ashamed of.
“I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business,” Khalid tweeted.
Later, Almonte apologized for outing Khalid. According to Out magazine, Khalid expressed his gratitude for his fans, saying that their connection hasn’t changed since he was outed.
“I’m singing these songs that — I was obviously gay when I wrote them, but the world may not have known,” he told Out. “Everybody is singing them the same way they were before I was outed! So [that shows me] none of my fans care about my sexual preferences. I think they care about our mutual respect for music.”
Simon Guobadia, reality star Porsha Williams’ ex and her estranged husband, is one of the latest people affected by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) crackdowns that the Trump administration has implemented.
Us Weekly reported that after spending months at a detention center, Guobadia has officially been released from ICE custody and deported to his home country of Nigeria.
At this time, Gudobadia is said to be in “good spirits,” according to his friend and business partner Tai Savet. In February, the ex of The Real Housewives of Atlanta star was taken to the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, as a result of the government’s current mass deportation efforts.
After moving to America in 1982, it is reported that Guobadia overstayed his visa and was deported in 1992. He was granted permanent residency status in the same year. However, sources say it was due to him using an “undisclosed identity.”

Following 15 months of marriage, Williams filed for divorce from Guobadia in February 2024, and she was ultimately granted exclusive use of their marital home until a financial decision was made regarding their divorce. An official hearing for their divorce is set for this week; however, with Guobadia’s latest deportation, he will be allowed to join via video.
The hearing between the former couple has been delayed several times due to his detention, and they’re currently in a battle over the prenuptial agreement that was signed prior to their wedding on November 25, 2022.
“The motion to enforce the Prenuptial Agreement is a substantive motion that requires findings of fact by this Court,” Guobadia’s lawyer argued, noting that he required additional time to be able to attend due to his detention status. “The outcome of the motion will also have a substantial effect on how the remainder of the divorce case proceeds, as it may be dispositive of some of the issues and result in litigation on others.”
When are Simon Guobadia and Porsha Williams due in court again?
The presiding judge granted Guobadia’s motion to reschedule, and his and Williams’ new hearing is set for Wednesday. According to Us Weekly, Williams requested permission to attend the hearing virtually, as well.
Her lawyer told the court, “[Williams] is a well-known reality television personality, a career in which last-minute travel and unexpected opportunities frequently arise,” adding, “[Williams] shows that this employment opportunity would help [Williams] offset the numerous financial obligations that [Guobadia] has failed to maintain under the Temporary Order, as well as to offset the significant legal expenses [Williams] has already incurred in pursuing enforcement of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement and defending herself against [Guobadia] as it relates to the instant divorce action.
“[Williams] shows that her request for virtual appearance is made in good faith and reflects a balancing of her professional obligations and the serious nature of these proceedings, not a desire to delay or further complicate the instant litigation,” the lawyer argued.
The outlet reported that the judge has yet to rule on Williams’ motion.
A Milwaukee man has been found guilty of killing and dismembering 19-year-old Sade Robinson in 2024. The Associated Press reported that on Friday, the jury found 34-year-old Maxwell Anderson guilty on all four counts of first-degree intentional homicide, dismembering a corpse, arson and hiding a corpse.
What happened to Sade Robinson after meeting Maxwell Anderson for a first date?
Anderson is convicted of killing Sade Robinson during their first date on April 1, 2024. Investigators determined that Anderson dismembered the teen’s body, spread her remains around Milwaukee County and burned her car to hide the evidence. During his closing arguments on Thursday, Assistant District Attorney Ian Vance-Curzan told jurors that Anderson and Robinson met at a bar a week before she disappeared. The pair was also seen on surveillance video as they enjoyed an evening at two bars on April 1, 2024 before going back to Anderson’s apartment.

Additionally, Vance-Curzan said photos from Anderson’s phone show him groping Robinson while she was laying face down on his couch in the apartment. Robinson, who was incapacitated, didn’t have a chance to fight back, Vance-Curzan said.
Surveillance video showed Robinson’s car leaving Anderson’s apartment early in the morning on April 2. According to prosecutors, Anderson then took her to a county park near Lake Michigan, cut her body into pieces later that morning and burned the car behind an abandoned building. He then returned to his apartment on a bus, Vance-Curzan said.
What did Maxwell Anderson’s attorney say about the incriminating evidence?
Anderson’s attorney, Tony Cotton, fought back against the evidence during his closing arguments. Cotton said prosecutors didn’t show that Anderson ever intended to kill Robinson. According to the attorney, this was an important element as his client faced a first-degree intentional homicide charge.
Cotton also said nobody heard there was a struggle in the apartment. The attorney continued, saying Anderson didn’t try to hide his identity when he took the bus. Anderson’s clothes and shoes remained clean despite being accused of committing murder in a muddy park, Cotton said.
Anderson, who will be sentenced on Aug. 15, faces a mandatory life sentence.
Florida A&M University athletic director Angela Suggs was arrested Monday on fraud and theft charges.
According to The Associated Press, the 55-year-old allegedly charged over $24,000 for personal use on a corporate credit card when she served as president and CEO of the Florida Sports Foundation. She was booked into the Leon County Jail before being released on a $13,500 bond. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement began its investigation in November after getting a referral from the Florida Department of Commerce’s Inspector General.
According to WTXL, she served as the FSF president and CEO from 2017 until she assumed the athletic director position on Oct. 7, 2024. Suggs, a FAMU alum, previously served as the associate athletic director for external affairs and senior women’s administrator at the HBCU before her departure to the FSF, HBCU Sports reported.
Why is Suggs being charged with fraud and theft charges?
The FDLE investigation included an audit of Suggs’ FSF business credit card purchases and corresponding travel reimbursements, revealing unauthorized wire transfers, cash withdrawals, and personal purchases made at casinos during business trips.
Suggs reportedly falsified travel vouchers, and when asked about the unauthorized charges, the FDLE stated, “Suggs claimed some were for business meals and others were accidentally charged to the business card,” and she failed to reimburse FSF.
FAMU’s response to Angela Suggs’ charges
WTXL reported that FAMU issued a statement mentioning that Suggs is on paid administrative leave:
“Florida A&M University is aware of allegations involving Athletics Director Angela Suggs and a former employer. While the matter is unrelated to FAMU, she has been placed on administrative leave with pay until further notice. Athletics business operations will continue under the deputy directors of athletics, Travis Glasgow and Brittney Johnson.”
A California woman claims her last shopping experience at Costco left her with physical and health issues that she will have to deal with for the rest of her life. She’s now suing them for over $14 million.
According to SFGate, the incident happened at one of the American chain’s membership-only warehouse clubs in Santa Rosa on March 22. Sadie Novotny claims that while she was walking down the aisle, one of the cabinet sets on an in-store display fell off its platform and collapsed on her, leaving her pinned to the floor.
Why is Costco being sued for over $14 million?
The plaintiff shared that the alleged experience of the accident left her with “multiple, permanent, and severe injuries,” including brain damage.
Novotny’s lawsuit has three financial requests, including $10,000 for utility bills, $100,000 for lost wages and medical bills incurred as a result of the accident, plus an additional $4 million for future losses and expenses, as reported by USA Today. Additionally, two $5 million claims for “pain, suffering, and inconvenience” and emotional distress were submitted.
What happened at this Costco location?
Before Cosco’s petition to transfer the case to the Northern District Court was granted, the victim’s initial filing in Alameda County Superior Court declared that the company had not taken the proper precautions to ensure the safety of customers in the vicinity of the setup. Court documents mentioned that the cabinet had “thin” leg support and was placed oddly on a small, run-down wooden pallet.
Additionally, it states that the company allegedly overlooked its employees’ education about the brand’s products, specifically that particular cabinet, so they’d know to put warning disclosure signs on or near the presentation.
Novotny is expected to face Costco in a court appearance this September for a case management conference, per the latest docket updates.
