A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are expecting their third child — but will the bundle of joy be another brother for RZA and Riot Rose, or a baby girl? The rapper may have just revealed the answer.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet for the premiere of Smurfs in Brussels on Saturday (June 28), Rocky appeared to let slip the sex of his third child amid Ri’s pregnancy. When asked whether the baby was “the girl [he’s] been waiting for,” the Harlem native smiled and nodded in response.
“It is man, it is,” Rocky said.
He then played the moment off by holding up a Smurfette plushie, implying that the girl he’d been referring to had actually been the iconic blue character. “Right here, right here!” he said, laughing.
As for becoming a father of three, Rocky told ET, “We’re gonna be like the Wayans Family … love is beautiful, and it’s just spreading it.”
The Smurfs screening in Belgium marked the world premiere of the film, which Rihanna produced in addition to voicing Smurfette and contributing new song “Friend of Mine” to the project. The movie will hit theaters on July 18.
The Fenty mogul first revealed that she was pregnant again at the 2025 Met Gala in May, appearing on the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in a tailored gown that showed off her bump. She highlighted her belly once again on the Smurfs red carpet by wearing a sheer blue baby-doll top — but when it was her turn to talk to ET at the event, the singer was coy about the sex of Baby No. 3.
“Let’s see if it’s a Smurfette!” she quipped to the outlet. “Could be a Papa Smurf, who knows?”
One thing she did confirm was that the new baby’s name will follow the pattern set by RZA and Riot Rose. “It’s always going to be an ‘R’ name,” Ri said. “That’s the one thing me and Rocky don’t fight over!”
Rihanna has said before that she’d like to add a girl to her family, though she loves being a mom to her boys. The singer welcomed her first child, RZA, in 2022, followed by Riot the next year.
In an interview with Interview Magazine in 2024, she said that she’ll have as many kids “as God wants me to have.”
“I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two,” Ri added at the time. “I would try for my girl. But of course, if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
