Carter’s lawyer points out inconsistencies in Jane Doe’s story

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carter’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, said Monday that the 38-year-old Jane Doe’s story “never happened” and accused her of pursuing financial gain rather than “truth and justice.”

Spiro also criticized her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, for exploiting her, adding that her recent admission of inconsistencies during an NBC News interview proves the claims are doubtful.

“These are not minor inconsistencies,” Spiro said. “If you look at the timing, it’s not possible this could happen.”

He continued, “I want to make sure this is clear: When people make up an account, whether intentionally or their mind is blank or something, they can always get that core part of the story right. They can just keep repeating it over and over and over again; this is what happened, that core part. But they’re always going to mess up the details. When something isn’t real, when something doesn’t happen, you’re going to get the details wrong because you weren’t really there,” adding, “[This was] not possible. It’s because this never happened.”

Jane Doe’s father claims no recollection of picking her up that night

As Blavity reported, the initial complaint was filed in October against Combs, naming a male and female celebrity allegedly involved in the incident at an afterparty at a house in New York. The Jane Doe said she felt “woozy and lightheaded” after one drink and went to an empty bedroom to lie down. She then recalled Combs and the male celebrity taking turns raping her as the female celebrity looked on. The suit states that the woman called her father to pick her up after what happened.

However, NBC News reported that her father had no recollection of picking her up that night. She also claimed that she spoke to another celebrity at the afterparty, stating that she was sexually assaulted, but the celebrity said he was not in New York at the time. Photos of both Carter and Combs show they were at different locations than those described by the woman, though their exact whereabouts remain unclear.

‘I’m not from your world’

Since being named in the amended lawsuit, Carter has issued several statements. On Friday, he told NBC News that “this incident didn’t happen” and called out Buzbee, who filed several lawsuits against Combs, including this one mentioning Carter as a co-defendant.

Additionally, he mentioned the “heartbreak” he has for his family as he and his wife, Beyoncé, would have to explain the situation to their children.

“You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same,” he added, per NBC News. “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children.”

Carter responds to the criminal complaint against him

The criminal complaint was refiled on Dec. 9, mentioning Carter as one of the unidentified celebrities in the initial filing, Blavity reported. Carter then responded to the lawsuit with a statement shared on Roc Nation’s Instagram account.

“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee,” Carter said. “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!! These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”

He continued, “My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world, who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit. You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all celebrities’ are the same. I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable. I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”
