Lanez, whose birth name is Daystar Peterson, is described as a “violent and dangerous criminal” with an “established pattern of behavior [demonstrating] the reasons this civil harassment restraining order is necessary to protect Ms. Pete and her wellbeing,” according to a 194-page document drafted by Megan’s lawyers and as reported by Variety.
Her lawyers say Lanez “continues to terrorize Ms. Pete” and she is not protected, given that the restraining order was just from 2020 to 2023.
They also accuse Lanez of having hired bloggers, citing Elizabeth Milagro Cooper, in order to run a defamation campaign against Megan. Her lawyers say Lanez asked his father about payments made to Cooper to continue harassing Megan.
As Blavity reported, Megan sued Cooper in October for harassment and cyberbullying. She was accused of invasion of privacy, cyberstalking and intentional infliction of emotional distress for her online campaign against Megan, which include negating that Lanez shot Megan in the foot and sharing a pornographic “deepfake” of the rapper.
“I really thought that once he got sentenced and once he went off to jail, I was going be a new woman and I thought I was going to be great and I could just go be the Megan Thee Stallion I always wanted to be,” Megan said in her Megan Thee Stallion: Her Words documentary. “No. I still, every day, have to deal with people mad at me because I said what happened to me.”
