Charlamagne Tha God is responding after Donald Trump unleashed a hate-filled rant against him on social media. The popular radio host answered back during his show on Monday as he gave Trump the “Donkey of the Day” award. In response to Trump, who ranted on social media after Charlamagne made critical comments about him on Saturday, Charlamagne said Trump is unfocused and he’s failing on his promises.
Charlamagne specifically pushed back on each part of Trump’s long rant, including his claims about building a strong economy, ending five wars and closing the border.
“You have definitely made the border harder to cross, but saying it’s closed is false and ignores everyone coming over seeking legal asylum,” Charlamagne said. “By the way, I want border security. I just want you to keep your promise of deporting illegals and criminals. But since Homeland Security started to work to deport more people, immigrants with legal status or no criminal history are being detained and deported, too. That’s not right.”
After Trump called him a racist in his social media post, Charlamagne said his criticism of the President didn’t have anything to do with race.
“I was just talking to your base, letting your base know that you haven’t kept the promises you made in regards to the economy. In fact, you’ve made things worse,” Charlamagne said.

Charlamagne didn’t hold when he appeared for an interview with Lara Trump on the Fox News program, My View, on Saturday. Speaking to Lara, who is the President’s daughter-in-law, Charlamagne condemned Trump for failing to release the files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. The 47-year-old host of The Breakfast Club told Lara that Trump may lose his supporters if he doesn’t release the files.
“I think that traditional conservatives are going to take the Republican Party back,” Charlamagne said on the show, per The New York Times. “I think there’s a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party that people aren’t paying attention to.”
“I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back. I really do,” he added.
Trump unleashed a series of insults at Charlamagne in his social media post on Sunday. The President called Charlamagne a “low IQ individual” and said he “has no idea what words are coming out of his mouth.” Trump also took shots at Charlamagne’s nickname.
“(Why is he allowed to use the word ‘GOD’ when describing himself? Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?),” the president wrote as part of his lengthy tirade, per Newsweek.
