Although the ceremony for the 2025 ACM Awards is still a few days away, Ella Langley and Riley Green are early winners for their breakthrough hit “You Look Like You Love Me.” The surprise was revealed while the pair were on stage at Country Thunder in Tampa, Florida, Friday night (May 2) — with the reveal coming from none other than country icon and 18-time ACM Awards host Reba McEntire.
A special video from Reba, in which she congratulated the two artists as winners of this year’s award for visual media of the year (for their “You Look Like You Love Me” music video), played during Green’s set at the festival on Friday. Langley receives honors for both artist and director in the category.

Langley learned of her first Academy of Country Music award just a week ago, during her set at Rock the Country in Knoxville, Tennessee.
News of that first win — for new female artist of the year — arrived courtesy of friend and co-writer Miranda Lambert via video message. (Lambert, who called Langley “my soul sister in country music and a partner in crime,” was named winner in the same category 18 years ago.)

With two awards to her name already, several remain up for grabs for the singer-songwriter at this year’s ceremony: female artist of the year, plus single of the year, song of the year and music event of the year (all for her “You Look Like You Love Me” duet with Green). For song of the year, the two are nominated as both artists and songwriters.
The twangy, flirty barroom duet, released in 2024, made it to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, No. 7 on Hot Country Songs and No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The 2025 ACM Awards will stream live globally on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch on Thursday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. PT from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Expect to tune in for two-and-a-half hours to catch the full show.

Investigators in Frisco, Texas have launched a probe after perpetrators allegedly doxed Collin County Judge Angela Tucker, who reduced the $1 million bond for 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony.
He’s accused of fatally stabbing his peer, Austin Metcalf, at a track meet. According to Fox 4, the unidentified hackers have been publishing the judge’s personal address on social media following her decision to reduce the bond to $250,000.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that their “priority remains ensuring the judge’s safety and appropriate security measures have been implemented.” Former Dallas County assistant district attorney Russell Wilson said judges are especially at risk in high-profile cases such as the one involving Anthony and Metcalf as investigators continue to see an increase in the number of private information being leaked online.
“Certain information is publicly available. But judges and individuals in law enforcement do have a statute that allows them to remove some of their information from being publicly available. And so publication of that information with the intent to cause harm or for them to get a threat is a crime in Texas,” Wilson said, per Fox 4.
The sheriff’s office added that it’s “coordinating with the FBI and our Fusion Center to monitor for any concerning rhetoric or propaganda that could incite violence.”

Metcalf, the 17-year-old Memorial High School student-athlete, was killed at a track meet on April 2. Witnesses said Anthony, who is from Centennial High School, had a confrontation with Metcalf. As the confrontation broke out between the two teens, Anthony allegedly reached into a bag and stabbed Metcalf. Anthony, now charged with first-degree murder, is on house arrest after the judge reduced his bond to $250,000.
More than 100 children in India have become sick after eating a school lunch that was poisoned by a snake. According to the BBC, the cook at the school still served the food to the children after removing the snake. At least 500 children ate the food, per the National Human Rights Commission.

Pop superstar Kylie Minogue capped her first arena tour of the United States and Canada on Friday night (May 2) as her Tension Tour touched down in Los Angeles at Crypto.com Arena.
“Good evening, Los Angeles! We are here!” the ever-gracious performer exclaimed to the packed house early in the evening. “Thank you so much each and every one of you for coming out tonight, and welcome to the Tension Tour.”
While the two-hour show took fans on a journey through four decades of Minogue’s hits, it also highlighted eight songs from her two most recent studio albums, Tension II (released in 2024) and Tension (2023). The Tension Tour is just the third traveling show Minogue has brought to the U.S. and Canada, having previously visited the country with Aphrodite Live in 2011 and the KYLIE trek 2009, with both staged before more intimate crowds as compared to the arena-sized audiences of the Tension Tour. Separate from her three tours, Minogue also mounted her first Las Vegas residency in 2023-24, with 20 dates at the 1,000-seat capacity Voltaire at The Venetian Las Vegas.

The concert’s setlist was loosely organized by theme and tempo. What it lacked in continuity, Rema more than made up for with the sheer number of hits he played. A cheeky kiss-cam introduced a mellower, heart-eyed segment featuring cuts like “Favorite Girl” (with Darkoo) and “Soundgasm”; “Calm Down” made for a classic arena sing-along moment, and newer drops like “Bout U” and “Baby (Is It a Crime)” allowed Rema the space to show off both his sultrier R&B side and his swaggering rock edge.

Days after the death of Pope Francis, Trump told reporters that he would like to be the next leader of the Catholic church.

Kirk Medas, one of the stars of the former MTV reality show Floribama Shore, has died. He was 33 years old.
Medas was one of the most popular and beloved members of the Jersey Shore spinoff’s cast, both by fans and amongst the cast members themselves. The show ran on MTV from 2017 to 2021.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the Floribama Shore family. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time,” MTV said in a statement.

His death comes after he spent almost two weeks in a hospital’s intensive care unit, per TMZ. It was reported earlier this week that he had been hospitalized and was “fighting necrotizing pancreatitis.” Per TMZ, his cause of death was liver failure.

Prior to Medas’ death, several co-stars had begun helping to crowdfund to support Medas’ health issues and expenses.

He’s currently on a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious. Kirk does not have medical insurance, and his sweet, strong mother has created a GoFundMe to help with the overwhelming expenses.”

Reactions to Kirk Medas’s death
Tributes poured in from Floribama Shore co-stars in honor of Medas.
Hall confirmed Medas’ death in an Instagram post, writing in part, “We lost our brother, our best friend, our heart—Kirk. I was at the beach when I felt it. Before the call even came, a dolphin kept coming up to me, as if to say goodbye. Kirk and I shared a love for dolphins and the ocean, and in that moment, I just knew.”
She continued, “Though my heart is shattered, I find peace in knowing he’s no longer in pain. He’s in heaven now—free, whole, and making everyone laugh the way only he could. Kirk had the kindest soul, a heart full of love for everyone he met, and a spirit that brought people together. He truly was the glue that held us all close. Lyndell “Lynn” Price, the Turkey Leg Hut owner who was recently arrested for allegedly starting a fire at a Houston bar, is now accused of selling marijuana in his restaurant.
According to the Houston Chronicle, FBI special Agent Deborah Cline testified against Price on Thursday, saying authorities collected evidence while investigating the arson attempt at Bar 5015. Cline said Lynn Price obtained California-grown marijuana in Houston, then sold it at Turkey Leg Hut and at the Daquiri Hut, another establishment which used to be located at the same address before closing down.
Who allegedly brought California-grown marijuana to Lynn Price?
According to Cline, John Lee Price, who also faced arson charges with Lynn Price, admitted to bringing hydroponic marijuana to Turkey Leg Hut. Per the FBI, Lee Price said he worked with Lynn Price and part of his job was to move marijuana from California to Houston.
Continuing with her testimony, Cline said the restaurant was guarded by security 24/7 because that’s where the drugs were stored. About1,000 pounds of marijuana were stored at Turkey Leg Hut, per the FBI.
The weed, according to Cline, was sold out of bags branded with the restaurant’s logo. However, the agent added that investigators haven’t found evidence of Lynn Price directly being involved in hand-to-hand marijuana sales at the establishment. Despite the allegations, Lynn Price is not currently charged with drug-related crimes.
What happened with the arson attempt at Bar 5015?
As Blavity reported, Lynn Price is accused collaborating with four other men to start a fire at a bar owned by his former business partner in 2020. The 42-year-old pleaded not guilty as he appeared in court on Thursday for his hearing on the arson-related charges, Click 2 Houston reported. Some of the witnesses who showed up to support Lynn Price at the hearing described him as a person with “a huge heart” and someone who “would give the shirt off his back if you needed it.”
Prosecutors, however, remained firm, saying, “You’ve heard the expression, ‘where there’s smoke, there’s fire.’ In this case, where there’s fire, there’s fire.”
Federal prosecutor Sebastian Edwards said Lynn Price has a questionable history, including in 2005 when he was arrested for arson.
“For the Turkey Leg Hut owner, the turkeys have come home to roost!” Edwards said, per Click 2 Houston.
The hearing ended after the federal judge said she will chew on the all evidence that has been provided.
