Red Lobster is taking the adage “look back to move forward” to a new level with a revamped menu.

Damola Adamolekun, CEO of the seafood restaurant chain, announced big changes to the restaurant’s familiar lineup, including the return of popular items from the past. Read on for everything we know about Red Lobster’s new menu.

Hush puppies to return and new happy hour deals

In a video shared on the seafood restaurant chain’s social media, Adamolekun teases the upcoming changes.

“We’re bringing back some fan favorites,” he says at the start of the clip,” per Black Enterprise, “Yup, they’re back, and there’s plenty under $20 on the menu.”

He goes on to explain that the restaurant is gearing up to bring back its hush puppies. Adamolekun also teases new “happy hour $5 drinks and appetizer deals” coming to the menu.

But not everything is changing at the seafood restaurant chain.

 “One thing that won’t be changing: these cheddar bay biscuits,” Adamolekun says in the video. “We got that right the first time.”

Lobster bisque and key lime pie also to return

According to USA Today, Red Lobster’s lobster bisque and key lime pie will also be making a comeback to the menu. They’ll be joined by a collection of new menu items, including:

Lobster and Shrimp Linguini

Lobster Pappardelle

Bacon-Wrapped Scallops

Lemon Basil Mahi

Parmesan-Crusted Chicken

Roasted Asparagus

Red Lobster has made a series of changes since applying for bankruptcy in September

News of the revamped menu comes after a series of changes at Red Lobster. As Blavity previously reported, in May 2024, Red Lobster applied for bankruptcy and months later was bought out by RL Investor Holdings LLC. Adamolekun was then brought in as Red Lobster’s new CEO.

“With our new backers, we have a comprehensive and long-term investment plan — including a commitment of more than $60 million in new funding — that will help to reinvigorate the iconic brand while keeping the best of its history,” Adamolekun said in a Sept. 5 press release.

In September, the seafood restaurant chain announced a new Create Your Own Ultimate Feast deal. The deal allows customers to mix and match two premium items with other menu items.

As for what’s to come for Red Lobster, only time will tell.

University of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has been out of the office due to a health issue. Although he hasn’t disclosed details, his son said he was “feeling well,” according to USA Today.

The football coach has been staying at home in Texas due to an “unspecified health issue.” Deion Sanders Jr., his eldest son, appeared on a YouTube livestream from their home and addressed the news publicly.

“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,” he said. “When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”

Deion Sanders thanks people for the support

On X, after Deion Jr. revealed the news, Sanders said, “Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! 🙏🏾 I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. It’s unknown when he will return to his regular schedule. Sanders had to cancel his speaking engagement at the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium on June 8.

“Due to an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change, our originally scheduled Foundation Keynote Speaker, Deion Sanders ‘Coach Prime,’ is unable to attend. We are grateful for his support and look forward to future opportunities to welcome him,” the organization posted on X.

Deion Sanders’ past health concerns

Sanders has mainly been staying out of the spotlight since the NFL draft in April.

“I hope you’re feeling better,” former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel told him on a podcast in May, according to USA Today. 

He asked Sanders if he had ever tried fasting.

“What I’m dealing with right now is at whole nother level,” Sanders replied.

The coach has had prior health issues. In 2022, two toes on his left foot were amputated due to blood clots that had developed because of previous surgery, according to ESPN. A year later, Sanders missed Pac-12 media day after undergoing a procedure to relieve blood clots in both his legs.

A Richmond, Virginia, couple was shocked when a Starbucks employee turned them away during a life-threatening health scare.

According to WLBT, Kevin and Nelisa Key had date night plans to see a comedy show on March 30. Before the show, Kevin, who is in Stage 4 kidney failure, began to feel uneasy and alerted his wife.

“He just started sweating. He’s like, ‘I don’t feel well,’” Nelisa said. “He started leaning over, and then he started vomiting.”

A man requested a cup of water at Starbucks during a medical emergency

Since this wasn’t the pair’s first experience having an episode like this, Nelisa knew what to do. She noticed a Starbucks nearby, rushed in and notified the customers in line that her husband was having a medical emergency and needed some water. Patrons waiting to order were empathetic and allowed her to skip to the front of the line. When she told the barista the situation, they denied her service, telling her to wait in line like everyone else.

“I pointed back, because you could see Kevin, and I was like, ‘That’s my husband right there. He’s in Stage 4 kidney failure. I just need water fast for him.’ And the employee looked at me and was like, ‘You need to get in line,’” Nelisa told WLBT about the interaction. “And then I repeated what I said, I’m like, ‘But my husband, he’s in kidney failure, we just need ice water quickly.’ And he looked at me again and was like, ‘You need to get in line.”

She then noticed a Capital One Café, so she ran inside and was immediately offered assistance and given a cup of water.

“First and foremost, we’re glad the person facing a medical emergency is doing much better,” Jennifer Windbeck, head of retail bank channels & operations at Capital One, said in an exclusive statement to WLBT. “We’re proud of the way our Capital One Café Ambassadors handle themselves each and every day. ‘Doing the right thing’ is one of our Capital One values and we believe that shows up in the work we do day in and day out.”

Shocked by how the worker at the coffee chain handled the matter, Kevin illustrated the severity of the situation and how it could have turned deadly.

“I could have possibly blacked out,” Kevin said. “It could have had a more dramatic impact on my body. My kidneys could have possibly shut down.”

How is Starbucks addressing what happened?

Starbucks’ media relations spokesperson, Sam Jefferies, sent WLBT a statement to reveal the actions the company has taken after learning of the incident and to express the company’s sentiments toward the Keys.

“We’ve been in touch with this customer over the past few weeks to listen, apologize, and make this right, and we hope to welcome them back to a store of their choice to give them the Starbucks experience they should expect…” Jefferies said on behalf of the company.

“As we continue to train our partners on the new Code of Conduct,” the statement continued, “we are working to ensure that everyone who visits our store has a great experience and training partners to communicate openly and from a place of kindness, compassion, and consideration for other patrons when determining how to proceed when a guest makes a request outside of our policies. If a customer communicates a request related to restroom access or water due to a medical, health or accessibility issue, we are committed to providing appropriate accommodations.”

Investigators believe they may have found the body of 3-year-old Nola Dinkins, who was reported missing on Tuesday in Delaware.

According to NBC Philadelphia, the body was found on Wednesday in Cecil County, Maryland, but investigators haven’t yet confirmed the identity. However, her mother, Darrian Randle, 31, has “first- and second-degree murder, first-degree of child abuse resulting in death of a minor under thirteen, and other related criminal charges in Maryland, according to state police,” per 6 ABC.

Cedrick Britten, said to be Randle’s boyfriend, is charged with “accessory to first- and second-degree murder after the fact, failure to report child death, and other offenses,” as 6 ABC reported.

“Our homicide unit investigators had enough information gleaned through the investigation that connected these two individuals with the disappearance of this 3-year-old,” said Elena Russo, a spokesperson for the Maryland State Police.

Darrian Randle initially her 3-year-old daughter was abducted at gunpoint

The search for Dinkins began on Tuesday night after Randle told police that a couple held her at gunpoint and abducted the child on the side of the road in Newark, Delaware. According to investigators, Randle said the man approached her after she stopped her car to talk to her daughter.

Police said the suspect was initially described as a bald white man, about 40 years old, who has a bald peach fuzz on his head. Officers believed that he may be wearing a black hoodie with gray basketball shorts, and he may have a handgun. Police also said Randle told them that the man was traveling with a blonde white woman. When officers released the Amber Alert on Tuesday night, the report stated that the man was driving a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Ford or Chevy.

However, the Amber Alert was canceled on Wednesday after officers said the mother is lying.

“Detectives determined that the initial account of the incident given by the mother was false,” Andrea Botterbusch of the New Castle County Police Department said, per NBC Philadelphia.

The department has now launched a homicide investigation, but charges haven’t been filed at this point and there are no suspects identified. Randle is held in custody during the investigation.
